"Maybe he is the owner of a local ranch. He gives out the feeling he knows where he is and what he is doing. I saw him from far away, and was impressed by his dignity.
His expensive white felt stetson hat is pulled low to shade his eyes from the bright sun. His dark hair has a touch of gray. His blue shirt, with its western cut pockets, completes the image.
We were visiting a small mountain town near Patzcuaro, Mexico, in 2006, when I saw him on the street. I took several photographs from which this painting was developed."
