"Every day except Sunday, Estella and her mother sell fruit and vegetables from a primitive roadside stand a few yards from the main door to our hotel. In her early sixties, her hard life has left its mark."
We were visiting Patzcuaro, Mexico, in 2006. We passed them every day. A deal was struck for them to model for the artists at our painting workshop. I was able to take photographs from which this Studio painting was developed.
