"She may be from a nearby village, perhaps in town just for the day. It is difficult to guess her age. Her face is proud, yet reflects a hard life, maybe from raising a large family and working in the fields."
In 2006, I was painting in the central square of a small mountain town near Patzcuaro, Mexico. She sat down near by and was watching me work. Under the pretext of photographing the street scene in front of me, I was able to capture her image from which this painting was developed.
