"In 2006, we were visiting a small town near Patzcuaro, Mexico, and wandering through the market area. This young lady was watching us from the back of a store selling children's toys.
I was taking photographs at random, hoping to capture interesting material for future paintings. Upon examining the images later, I liked her quiet slightly puzzled look.
This small painting was developed as something that would stand out and yet have wide appeal. I like her waif like appearance. I never knew her real name."
