"A young lady stops by to purchase some roasted chestnuts form a vendor in a busy Italian square. She has already purchased some flowers, perhaps on her way home."

Vendors, many immigrants from North Africa, are part of the everyday scene in urban Italy. This chestnuts vendor, with his cooking stove and supplies, was photographed in Rome. The young lady was cropped from a group photographed in Florence. The background an associated figures were sketched from various other Italian scenes.
