"The hotel where we stayed provides sunshade umbrellas, towels, and chaise lounges to enjoy the beach. For a small tip, a young man sets you up for the day with your very own patch of shade.
Very soon, beach vendors arrive, soliciting your dollars in return for blankets, toys, hats, clothing, hammocks, knickknacks, and even fresh pastries and other eatables. One quickly learns to ignore their calls for your attention, and to concentrate on sleeping, sun bathing, reading, or just enjoying the sights.
This is a studio painting created from multiple photographs and sketches generated during our visit to Puerto Vallarta, on the west coast of Mexico, during Spring Break 2005."
