My Story - We were visiting San Diego, California. There are many tourist attractions along the broadwalk, close to shoreline and across from downtown. Amongst the fortune tellers and portrait artists there was a man in colorful dress who tells children's stories. I asked him if I could take his photograph so as to paint his portrait, and he willingly agreed. From these pictures I developed this portrait. Upon a second visit to San Diego some six month's later, I tried to deliver a photo print of him. His neighboring vendors advised me that he had decided to retire, and only occasional came out to tell his stories. Also, they told me his name is Joe. Updated November 2008. |
