Curiosity group painting

Watermedia Canvas: - This is a recently developed, 100% close weave woven cotton, acid free, and archival, artist's support material. It is coated with a specially formulated gesso that adsorbs water based paints.

Originally manufactured and distributed by Fredrix/Tara Materials, but now available under several brands, it has an absorbency and texture close to cold pressed watercolor paper, but without some of its limitations.

Gouache and watercolor paints on watermedia canvas have that distinctive look that may only be achieved on canvas. With a varnished finish it is possible to do away with the usual protective glass, and its fragility and annoying reflections.

Also, large stretched canvas panels are lightweight, and hang and transport easily.

I have successfully used the panels with oil paints. The very fine weave suits portraits very well.
